Why a Google site/Blogger for your classroom?

Here are some of the benefits of using Google Sites as a basic learning management system:
  • Managed by the teacher, not IT department.
  • Easy integration with all Google tools including calendars, documents, presentations, spreadsheets, forms, maps, and video.
  • Include a variety of educational and interactive gadgets using the Sites gadget directory.
  • Measure participation with revision history, recent site activity, or page notifications within Sites.
  • Create flexible designs and layouts without needing any knowledge of HTML code
  • Collaborative environment for teachers and students.

Are you having trouble overriding the filters?  Since we have unblocked YouTube, many teachers are having difficulty finding the override button.  Go to login.pasoschools.org as shown below and teachers can still override content filters.

How to Approve YouTube Videos

Approve YouTube Videos

Many lessons can be enhanced with the right video. Something visual and entertaining that speaks to the subject you’re teaching breaks up the monotony of a lecture, brings some fun into the lesson, and keeps your students more engaged and interested in the subject. Please make sure to adhere to the acceptable use agreement.

Step1: For YouTube to know who you are, you MUST log into your Paso Google Account.

Step2: Go to and override youtube.com.
Step3: Once on www.youtube.com confirm that you are logged in up at the top left.
Step 4: Now find your video, via search.

Step 5: On the video screen  you will see a new blue band just below the video that gives you as the teacher an option to “APPROVE.”  Once selected, students will instantly be able to view the video district wide.  If you need to un-approve a video you will do it in the same spot.

Step 6: Add to Google Classroom or share a link.
